Commons ("we," "us," or "our") operates the mobile application Commons (the "App"). This page informs you of our policies regarding the collection, use, and disclosure of information when you use the App, and the choices you have associated with that information. Commons is designed to collect as little as possible: the App has no accounts and no sign-up, and your watchlist is stored only on your own device.

1. Information Collection and Use

We use several different types of information to provide and improve the App:

  • Information stored on your device: the watchlist of tokens you star (token mint addresses and the symbols and names needed to display them) is saved in Android SharedPreferences on your device. It never leaves your device, is not backed up by us, and is removed if you uninstall the App or clear its data.
  • Wallet information: Commons does not require a wallet to browse. If you choose to connect a wallet, the connection is made through the Solana Mobile Wallet Adapter to your own wallet app. Your private keys and seed phrase stay inside your wallet application at all times — Commons never sees them, stores them, or transmits them. When you request a quote, prepare a trade, or check a balance, your public wallet address is sent over HTTPS to the Commons backend service so it can perform that request on your behalf.
  • Usage data: Commons does not include analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or trackers. As with any internet service, requests to the Commons backend (such as feed, board, search, and swap requests) may be logged for security and reliability purposes, including information such as your IP address, request time, and the endpoint requested.
  • Public blockchain data: Commons reads publicly available market data from public sources, including DexScreener public endpoints, the Jupiter public API, and Solana public RPC nodes. This is public, third-party data about tokens and markets; Commons does not own or control it.

2. Use of Data

Commons uses the information described above for various purposes:

  • To provide and maintain the Service, including the live token feed, the community board, and search.
  • To display market data and community-link context for tokens.
  • To prepare trades and fetch balances when you ask for them, using the public wallet address you provide by connecting your wallet.
  • To operate your device-local watchlist.
  • To monitor the usage of the Service and to detect, prevent, and address technical issues.

3. Data Transfer and Storage

Your watchlist data is stored only on your device. Requests your App makes are processed by the Commons backend service, which is hosted on cloud infrastructure and may be located outside of your state, province, or country, where data protection laws may differ. The backend in turn reads public data from third-party public sources (DexScreener, Jupiter, and Solana RPC). We will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy. Your wallet's private keys are never transferred to Commons under any circumstance.

4. Disclosure of Data

We do not sell your information. We may disclose information in the good faith belief that such action is necessary to:

  • Comply with a legal obligation.
  • Protect and defend the rights or property of Commons.
  • Prevent or investigate possible wrongdoing in connection with the Service.

5. Security of Data

The security of your data is important to us. Communications between the App and the Commons backend use HTTPS. Commons is non-custodial: it never holds your keys, never signs on your behalf, and never takes custody of your funds — every transaction must be approved and signed by you in your own wallet. Remember that no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee its absolute security.

6. Blockchain Transactions

Please be aware that all transactions conducted through the App are recorded on the Solana blockchain and are publicly visible. Your wallet address and transaction history may be accessed by anyone with access to the blockchain. Commons cannot reverse, cancel, or refund a transaction after your wallet has signed and submitted it.

7. Children's Privacy

Our Service does not address anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
